| A brooch in the socalled “Urnes”-style, from the middel of the 11th century. The brooch shows a big animal with its head to the right, curved neck and distinctive forefeet, and the belly ends in two tails. Two snakes wind around the neck and feet. The “Urnes”-style is the latest of the ornamental styles of the Viking era. The original in silver. | Brosche im sogenannten Urnes-Stil aus der Mitte des 11. Jarhunderts. Die Brosche zeigt ein großes Tier mit dem Kopf nach rechts, mit geschwungenem Nacken und deutlich erkennbaren Vorderfüßen und der Leib endet in zwei Schwänzen. Zwei Schlangen winden sich um Hals und Füße. Der Urnes-Stil ist der späteste der ornamentalen Stile der Wikinger-Ära. Original in Silber, gefunden in Tröllaskógur/Rangárvellir. |
